A statement of purpose

The internet was supposed to be ours.

Somewhere along the way, the internet became a handful of platforms telling us how to express ourselves. Posts, reels, tweets, shorts. Different formats, same boxes.

Webstrolls is a small step towards changing that.

What if your online identity wasn't confined to an Instagram profile or a Twitter feed? What if you had your own little corner of the internet, built entirely around you?

And no, you don't have to be a developer to make that happen. Building a website is more accessible than ever. Your own space, your own aesthetic, your own rules.

Webstrolls is where these little corners come together — a public space to showcase your website, discover other people's creations, and take a casual stroll through the endlessly weird, wonderful, and personal side of the web.

We're at Version 1. It's small, a little rough around the edges, and very much a work in progress. That's the point. Every great thing starts somewhere.

Got a website? Submit it. I'd love to feature your corner of the internet here.

Maybe, someday, we won't just use the internet to exist on someone else's platform. Maybe we'll use it to build worlds of our own.

Let's see where this stroll takes us.

The slow web principle

“The web was once an open summer pasture of personal voices — unhurried, quirky, and honest. We stroll to remember what that feels like.”
